Disaster

Floods, storms, tornadoes, swirling all around
Oops, there goes your house, I think it just blew down
Cars, furniture, animals, blowing right by me
I look to the left , take a breath, woah, was that a tree?

People running here and there, together or alone
I thought I saw my grandma, she was talking on the phone
Bridges, buildings, being destroyed, one after another
A swirl to the left, a heave of the chest, and I saw your mother

If there ever was a storm in history, as bad as this
Surely I would have heard of it from my teacher Mr. Friss
As the howling, raging, angry storm carries things away
I turn and turn to look around, hey, was that Santa’s sleigh?

As things calm down, I look around, and wonder where I am
I look at my feet, then out at the street, and see a can of ham
I smile as I see a dog, taking refuge under a car
I look again, he’s miles away, could I have walked that far?

I realize something isnt right; the storm can’t be over yet
I look up to see I’m on a stage, expected to sing a duet
Wait, I think, this cant be, are things really as they seem?
I wake with a start, a jolt of my heart, realize this was just a dream.
