Homosexuality: Is it Moral?
One of the largest arguments of our time is over the morality of homosexuality. It is all over the news, and in our every day lives which causes violent reactions on both sides. Recently, Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff expressed that he believed homosexuality was immoral. There are however many reputable men and women maliciously attacking him for such a public stance.
This issue is not only a matter of morality, but it is also a matter of design.
From a secular point of view, the Atheists (more specifically Darwinists) believe in what is called “natural selection"(Davis 8). This is the process in which the strong survive and the weak do not (don’t jump to conclusions please). In this course of events, those who are able to reproduce are able to live on. If this is true, then in the earliest of times, homosexual creatures would have died out for lack of seed to carry on. Therefore, the idea that one can be ‘born” gay/lesbian is not probable.
From a moral Biblical perspective, there can be only one conclusion; homosexuality is a sin (violation) against God and one’s self. The Apostle Paul wrote that sexual sin is the worst because it is against your own body (1Cor 6:18).
There are numerous biblical texts in which homosexuality is condemned as sin. For example, it is among the reasons why Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed (Genesis). However, before anyone offended by what this article is saying, please realize that I am not playing favorites, and I do not intend to single out homosexuals as the only perpetrators of sin. Homosexuality is a sexual sin, but it is by no means alone in that category. Jesus said in the Bible, “I tell you the truth, if a man even LOOKS at a woman lustfully, he has already committed ADULTERY with her in his heart” (Matthew 5:28). Paul goes on to write “Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male [or female] prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God”(1Cor 6:9). Therefore, I am not saying that homosexuals are the only guilty party, for in truth I believe that virtually EVERYONE is guilty as charged when it comes to sexual sin.
It is my thought that all Americans need to repent for their sins (sexual sin in this particular case) and call on the mercy of God. Those who call themselves “straight” should by no means condemn those who do not, for let he who has yet to sin cast the first stone! But, those who call themselves homosexual must repent and seek the forgiveness of a God who is passionately seeking their good.
